What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxMiddlebury, where x = independently organized TED event.

At our TEDxMiddlebury event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combined to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

The TEDxMiddlebury "How We Started: From Idea to Impact" creativity and innovation conference was a time to explore new ideas, get inspired by professionals in a wide variety of fields, and gain exposure to speakers' journeys and innovations.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design.

True to the format of the TED Conference, TEDxMiddlebury presenters each gave a talk in 18 minutes or less.

There were no breakout sessions. Everyone at TEDxMiddlebury shared the same experience.

Because of this, there were no “in-and-outs”. Each ticket was for the whole event.
