Schwarz enters his fourth year as head coach of the men's tennis program at Middlebury. In just three seasons, Schwarz has led the Panthers to national prominence with an impressive 33-14 record. He has led the team to back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament, including the semifinals in the spring of '03. Following his impressive '02 season, Schwarz was named the NESCAC Coach of the Year.

Schwarz came to Middlebury from Cornell, where he was the assistant men's tennis coach and Director of the Reis Tennis Center on campus. Following his final season at Cornell, Schwarz was named the Division I Northeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's tennis programs at Cornell for two seasons.

Schwarz is a 1989 graduate of Cornell, where he played four years of varsity tennis. He received his master's degree from Cortland State in 1995 and then worked as an assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Ithaca College from 1995-1997.

He has continued to be an active player, earning singles and doubles championship honors in Tompkins County, New York on five different occasions. He was also named the Southern Tier Player of the Year in 1999. A USTA member, Schwarz has been the victor of several men's open tournaments throughout New York and Vermont.
