Notes for Loammi Granberry: Jerry D. Mason" <jdmason@@netpathway.com> He was one of the original charter members of the Hepzibah Baptist Church.He was marr ied to Rebecca Granberry. Their children were Norvell R. (became a preacher), L oammi Jr., John, Hiriam, George B. and Miranda B. Granberry. Loammi was the old est son of George Granberry who was a captain in the North Carolina Continental Guard during the Revolutionary War. George was also one of the first Baptist m inisters in the country. Loammi's brother George Jr. and himself were Baptist m inisters. George Jr. settled in Harris County, GA in 1830, while Loammi settl ed in Wayne County before moving to Clarke County. There's a Loammi listed in the Covington County census in 1830. At his death his property was valued at $10,922.50 His sister was Mary Granberry who married Josiah McLendon. His gran dson Hiram Brinson Granberry (Novell's son who was born in Copiah County, MS), moved to Texas in 1856. Loammia and his father moved to Hinds Co., MS, wher e Loammi received a US land grant (at a a place near his first cousins). He sol d the land in 1833. He moved on to Covington County in later years, and was inf luential in early county affairs in Covington. Three of his adult children marr ied in Hinds County and took their spouses to Covington when the family moved t here.
