| Notes for (Mary) Jeffie (Spouse 1) | ||||||||||||
| The following letter from Martha (Elizabeth? Or was this Mattie, wife of Simeon?) Robinson to Theo shows that Jeffie died sometime before June 30 1900: Sallis Miss June 30, 1900 Mr. T. Granberry Dear GrandSon Your missive just received and will haisten a reply. Nothing could have caused me more especial pain than the news of your sad bereavement. It has indeed been a heavy blow and I scarcely know how to write of consolation under so bitter an affliction. But-rest-assured you all have my heart-felt sympathy in your sad berievement. Now my mind wanders back to the last visit I made you all and the dear children how they will miss their Dear Mother. And I will comply with your request and come Tousday 3. You can meet me at the Depot, then will try to console the Darling Ones. They must think of God who "careth for all" who loves little children beyond others. Now will close as will see you soon. With love to all Remain Your Grandma Martha Robinson Sallis Miss note on back: letter to dadda from [aunt-crossed out] grandma Sweetie about mother's death. (Sweetie later came & staid with us in Hazlehurst) | ||||||||||||
| Notes for Theodore Ernest & (Mary) Jeffie (Family) | ||||||||||||
| The following letter from S. W. Robinson & wife to Theo Granberry suggests the marriage took place in 1884 or even early 1885: Mr. Theo Granberry Higdon Miss. Goshen Springs Dec 21st/84 Mr. Theo Granberry Dear Sir Yours of 23 Nov asking the consent f myself & wife to your and Jeffie's marriage has been received and contents carefully noted. In answer will say we are not disposed to oppose Jeffie in so grave a matter when duly considered, as I beleave has been in this case, and from all that we have seen and can learn of you there is nothing upon which to predicate an objection, infact – we are grateful to learn from those in whom we have confidences you are in every way worthy of the effection and confidences of our daughter (the pride and I al of our household). You therefore shall have our consent to a consimation of your wishes in the matter, and we shall wellcome you as one of the family. Respectfully S. W. Robinson & Wife | ||||||||||||
