| Notes for Dr. Sylvanus Wheeler Robinson |
Volunteered and served in the 28th Mississippi Regiment until captured in 1863; in prison, Camp Morton, Indianapolis, IN, until paroled in 1865. Returned to practice medicine in Pisgah until his death.8
He was elected to the Mississippi Legislature in 1877 and also was a delegate to the constitutional convention of 1890 "to secure forever, white supremacy by constitutional and legal methods."9
"He was not a politician, but a physician and surgeon of state-wide reputation, the equal of an in the State in his day and time."
My grandfather, Dr. Carl Granberry, told of riding around Mississippi with him on his medical rounds in his buggy. |
