W E L C O M E :
Pianist Diana Fanning has performed throughout the U.S. and in Austria, Holland, England, France, Germany and Switzerland as a soloist; as the pianist in the Davydov-Fanning Duo with the outstanding Dutch cellist Dieuwke Davydov; as a guest artist with chamber ensembles, including the Takacs Quartet, the Alexander Quartet, and the Ruggieri Chamber Soloists; and as a concerto soloist with orchestras. Her most recent concerts have been in Paris and Munich, at the Schloss Leopoldskron (the "Sound of Music" castle) in Salzburg, Austria; as the guest artist in Schumann's Piano Quintet with the Takacs Quartet; as the concerto soloist in a series of concerts with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, as well as in the debut concert of the Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra; and as a soloist at the White Mountains Bach Festival. Diana Fanning's CD of works by Janacek, Chopin, and Debussy has been enthusiastically reviewed in England and in the U.S.
The 2010-2011 season marks the 40th anniversary of Diana Fanning’s
professional debut as a soloist with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra in 1970. The Middlebury
College Performing Arts Series will celebrate Diana’s forty years of music making with a gala
concert on November 12, at 8 PM in Mead Memorial Chapel on the Middlebury campus in Vermont.
Diana will play solo works by Chopin and Schumann, she will be joined by her dear friend and
Duo partner Dieuwke Davydov in a work for cello and piano by Glazunov, and the Jupiter String
Quartet will collaborate with Diana in a performance of Dvorak’s Piano Quintet. This free
Performing Arts Series concert is made possible with generous support from the Institute for
Clinical Science and Art, established by the late Dr. F. William Sunderman of Philadelphia. Diana Fanning and the outstanding Dutch cellist Dieuwke Davydov embark on their sixth concert tour of Europe in Spring 2011. The Davydov-Fanning Duo was formed in 1976 and offers concert programs of tremendous variety and interest. The Duo's tour program includes works by Bach, Debussy, Barber and Shostakovich. I
