Northeast Interstate Dairy Compact (NIDC)
Sets a price dairy farmers in the Northeast are paid by milk processors for their milk.
As a part of the NIDC there exists a compact commission, which has the authority to raise the amount paid above the federal minimum.
Vermonters believe the NIDC is the only thing keeping small family dairy farms alive in Vermont.
