The Friends are sponsors of the First Wednesdays Lecture Series, organized through the Vermont Humanities Council. Lectures are free of charge and are held on the first Wednesday of the month, October through May. Unless otherwise noted, these events take place in the Ilsley Public Library meeting room at 7 p.m. Information about the series can be found here.

The 2012-2013 series will begin Wednesday, October 3 with An Evening of George Gershwin. In this performance lecture, pianist Michael Arnowitt of Montpelier will explore the music and era of American composer George Gershwin and will perform An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue, among other compositions. Due to anticipated attendance, this will be held at the Town Hall Theater.

The entire series schedule will be posted shortly. Please check back.
