Directions from Boston, MA to Middlebury, VT:
Your trip's estimated travel time is 4 hours for 200 miles of travel.
- Take I-93 North for approximately 50 miles to the interchange with I-89 near Concord, NH.
- Take I-89 North for 83.8 miles to Exit 3 at Bethel, VT *If bad weather, see below*
- At Exit 3, bear right at the end of the ramp onto VT-107 and go West for about 13 miles.
- Turn right onto VT-100 and travel North for approximately 12.5 miles to Hancock.
- Turn left onto VT-125 and go West for about 19 miles to East Middlebury.
- Turn right onto US Route 7 and Travel into Middlebury.
While travelling north on Route 7 in Middlebury, you will pass several local businesses. On your left, you
will eventually see a small plaza hosting Mail Boxes Etc., Aubuchon Hardware and Kinney Drugs. Shortly after this
you will come to a traffic light. You should see the Middlebury Inn ahead of you. After the light, Rt. 7 will make
a hard left around a green - proceed around the green in the CENTER lane and take the left fork for Routes 125
and 30. This is Main St/Downtown Middlebury. Proceed down Main past the shops and Ilsley Library. The road will
now form (at the Mobil station and Angela's restaurant) - continue STRAIGHT on Route 30 South. You will pass a
funeral home and the Emma Willard House (Admissions) on the left. Shortly thereafter, is a left-hand turn with
a sign for PARKING for the Center for the Arts. Turn left here and proceed to the parking lot.

**BAD weather directions**
Almost any route to Middlebury takes you over the mountains. Although the directions on the first page are the
most direct to Middlebury, they are not the safest of winter roads. Pick one of the following according to your
comfort level:
Some experience driving in snow:
- Take I-93 North for approximately 50 miles to the interchange with I-89 near Concord, NH.
- Take I-89 North for 83.8 miles to Exit 1 at Woodstock, VT
- Take US Route 4 for 31 miles through Woodstock, past Killington and into Rutland.
- In Rutland, turn RIGHT (north) onto US Route 7 North
- Proceed approx. 28 miles from Rutland to Middlebury. You know you're in Middlebury when you hit your first real
traffic light since Rutland!
- Follow directions on above starting at: "While travelling north on Route 7 in Middlebury"
Less secure driving in snow. This will add about an hour to your trip - but travels only interstate
and highly traveled US Route 7:
- Take I-93 North for approximately 50 miles to the interchange with I-89 near Concord, NH.
- Take I-89 North for 150 miles to Exit 13 - South Burlington/Shelburne, VT
- Take exit ramp (I-189) to end
- Turn LEFT onto Route 7 South toward Shelburne/Middlebury.
- Stay on Route 7 passing Vergennes and New Haven, approx. 20 miles. Continue on Rt. 7 which will eventually proceed
down a long hill into the village of Middlebury. (You'll see a Mobil station across from the Swift House Inn).
Once in Middlebury, there is a lovely white Congregational Church on your right and the Middlebury Inn on your
left. Turn RIGHT onto Main St. See above paragraph at "Proceed down Main …".
