AmeriCorps*VISTA Members Can Transform Your Community!
If you are looking to increase your community's capacity to fight poverty and to bridge the gap between the college and its surrounding community to meet community needs and engage faculty, staff and students, then hosting a VCC AmeriCorps*VISTA can be the best first step. Through the work of the AmeriCorps*VISTA member, your site can:
- Build capacity to address poverty in your community

Develop meaningful and lasting partnerships between local agencies and Vermont campuses
- Foster service-learning initiatives that meet community needs and engage students

Promote student leadership through service activities

Help create a culture around service and community engagement
The Request For Proposals are due in the VCC office by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2008. We will have up to 12 VISTA positions available for the 2008-2009 academic year and will inform sites of their acceptance by the first week of March. We will be scheduling a technical assistance session during the week of January 21-25, 2008. We strongly encourage anyone applying for the first time to attend. Please let us know ASAP if you will be attending this session.
