Doughnut Eating Contest
Doughnut Contest History:
In the spring of 1994, Matt Evans ‘94 flocked with his Prankster
friends to Midnight Breakfast. Someone innocently challenged him
to test his eating skills and see how many doughnuts he could stomach.
He ate 9 that year, a minimal amount by today’s standards, but a
great feat for the time.
A year later in spring of 1995, Greg Debeer and Dylan Boyd, two of the
all-time record holders, challenged each other to an informal
competition. Boyd sat in upper, Upper Proctor, Debeer in lower,
Upper Proctor. Neither was aware of how much the other had
eaten. When final tally was taken Debeer came out on top with
13. Dylan had eaten 11. It was the beginning of a rivalry
that would last two years. More importantly, it was the beginning
of the Doughnut Fest as we know it today. The first officiated
Doughnut competition was held in fall of 1995. The rest is
history.
