Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy (BRIE)
BRIE is a research institute located at the University of California, Berkeley. Scholars associated with the institute focus on issues related to technology and national economic competitiveness. Associates include economists, political scientists, legal scholars and business specialists. BRIE publishes books and working papers that address current issues, often with a focus on policy prescription. It also sponsors conferences and educational programs. This web site at the University of Toronto provides contemporary and historical information related to the annual Group of 8 meetings. These conferences bring together heads of state and relevant officials from eight leading economic powers - Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States - to discuss multilateral approaches to common economic issues and problems. The Third World
