Asian Development Bank

The Asian Development Bank is a multilateral lending institution that finances development projects in the Asia-Pacific region. Its website includes statistical data, speeches, project summaries, business and consulting information, news releases, official documents, publication and links.

Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)

ASEAN is an organization devoted to the promotion of political, economic and security cooperation among a group of nine Southeast Asian nations. The ASEAN website provides background information, news, discussion of major issues, a calendar of ASEAN meetings and events, organizational facts, a photo gallery, country profiles, publications and links to on-line newspapers published in member countries.

Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy (BRIE)

BRIE is a research institute located at the University of California, Berkeley. Scholars associated with the institute focus on issues related to technology and national economic competitiveness. Associates include economists, political scientists, legal scholars and business specialists. BRIE publishes books and working papers that address current issues, often with a focus on policy prescription. It also sponsors conferences and educational programs. BRIE's website includes information about the institute and access to some of its resources.

Europa: European Union (EU)

This is the official website of the European Union. The EU is a regional organization devoted to political, social and economic integration among European countries. The EU website is organized into four main sections: institutions, policies, news and basic background information, including legal texts.

Friends of the Earth International

This non-governmental organization is a federation of autonomous environmental organisations from more than 50 countries. It campaigns on environmental and social issues of our day, while simultaneously aiming to catalysing a shift toward sustainable societies.

G8 Information Center

This web site at the University of Toronto provides contemporary and historical information related to the annual Group of 8 meetings. These conferences bring together heads of state and relevant officials from eight leading economic powers - Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States - to discuss multilateral approaches to common economic issues and problems. The Group of 8 Information Center provides access to official documents, conference reports, news accounts, scholarly papers and links related to these yearly summits.

Inter-American Development Bank

The Inter-American Development Bank is a multilateral lending institution that finances development projects in Central and South America. Its website includes statistical data, project summaries, business opportunities, news and publications.

International Center for Trade and Sustainable Development

The ICTSD aims to serve as a bridge between the various actors in the international policy-making arena where trade, development and environment concerns intersect. The Centre is non-partisan on issues and provides
basic information to promote harmonisation of trade policy and sustainable development.

International Monetary Fund (IMF)

The IMF is a multilateral lending institution responsible for assisting countries experiencing serious balance of payments deficits. The IMF has, since the early 1980s, played a major role in coping with developing country debt and financial crises. The IMF homepage provides historical background, recent news releases, official IMF speeches, publications and reports and analyses of contemporary problems in international finance.

International Political Economy Network (ISA)

This website is maintained by the International Political Economy (IPE) Section of the International Studies Association (ISA). ISA is an association of scholars interested in the study of international relations. The IPE section is specifically devoted to international issues that lie at the intersection of politics and economics. The IPE website provides visitors with access to an ongoing IPE discussion group. Thematic and geographic archives are available. Links are included to on-line IPE journals, dissertation listings, syllabi, graduate programs in IPE, and the homepages of ISA/IPE Section members.

Sponsored by the Institute for Global Communications, Labor Net provides a comprehensive and up-to-date guide to web-based information on issues affecting workers around the world. An excellent site for gathering recent news often overlooked by the mainstream media.

Multinational Monitor

Multinational Monitor is a monthly magazine that tracks corporate activities in developing countries, with a focus on labor and environmental issues.

The North-South Institute

The North-South Institute is a non-profit research organization devoted to exploring and promoting political and economic ties between Canada and developing countries.

Office of United States Trade Representative

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative is responsible for negotiating trade agreements with other countries. Its website includes relevant speeches, congressional testimony, press releases, reports, trade agreements texts and access to official documents.

One World

OneWorld is dedicated to promoting human rights and sustainable development by harnessing the democratic potential of the Internet. It is the Internet arm of the OneWorld Broadcasting Trust, a UK registered charity.

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)

The OECD is an organization designed to promote economic cooperation among the twenty nine member countries. The OECD gathers statistical data and facilitates consultation among economic specialists drawn from member country governments. The official OECD web site offers information about the organization's history, purposes, organization and achievements. Visitors can also find statistical data, official reports and news on upcoming events.

Organization of American States (OAS) Trade Unit

The OAS Trade Unit Website provides the full texts, as well as short summaries, of all major trade and investment agreements among countries in the Western hemisphere. Also included are statistical data, a calendar of trade related events, and updates regarding ongoing trade negotiations.

Third World Network

The Third World Network is an independent non-profit international network of organizations and individuals involved in issues relating to development, the Third World and North- South issues. Its objectives are to conduct research on economic, social and environmental issues pertaining to the South; to publish books and magazines; to organize and participate in seminars; and to provide a platform representingly broadly Southern interests and
perspectives at international fora such as the UN conferences and processes.

United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)

The UNCTAD promotes cooperation among developing countries on trade and development issues. Its website offers information about UNCTAD programs, news, and conference schedules.

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

The UNDP seeks to promote social and economic development in Southern countries by providing relevant technical advice and assistance. The UNDP website includes background on the UNDP, news, statistical data, publications and links to other websites.

United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (UNFAO)

UNFAO provides development assistance, technical information and policy advice to developing countries in the areas of food and agriculture. The UNFAO website includes statistical data, publications, news, and information about the organizations and its activities.

United Nations International Labor Organization (UNILO)

The ILO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that provides technical assistance to member countries regarding labor issues. Its website offers information on ILO programs and conferences.

United States Agency for International Development (AID)

USAID dispenses bilateral official development assistance on behalf of the U.S. government. AID's website includes publications, policy statements, news, data and links to dozens of development-related websites.

This is the encyclopedic resource provided by Nouriel Roubini,  Associate Professor of Economics and International Business, at NYU's Stern School of Business. He is currently on leave from NYU, serving as Senior Economist on the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

World Bank

The World Bank Group includes several distinct multilateral lending and development agencies, including the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Development Agency and the International Finance Corporation. The World Bank website provides basic information about these agencies and limited development data. Visitors can place orders for a wide array of World Bank publications.

World Trade Organization (WTO)

The WTO is a relatively new global multilateral institution created as a product of the Uruguay Round of world trade negotiations. The WTO is responsible for overseeing the trade rules agreed upon through the Uruguay Round, settling disputes, gathering information and providing a forum for ongoing trade negotiations. The WTO website includes information and analyses on a wide variety of issues related to international trade and investment. It also provides access to news releases, publications, links and legal texts.
