Team work

Shalom,

I’m Ira Schiffer, the Associate Chaplain/Hillel Rabbi at Middlebury College. My family and I arrived in Middlebury after a five-year family adventure in international living in the north of Israel where I was involved with community building and Arab-Jewish coexistence programs. Prior to that, I served congregations in Newark, Delaware and Baltimore, Maryland for a period of nineteen years.

I am a graduate of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and hold a Master’s degree in the history of religion from Brown University.

I'm working with the students, faculty and staff of the College in strengthening religious life on campus and in building bridges of understanding and dialog among the diverse groups that make up our community. In addition to my work at the College, I'm Director of Education for Havurah: The Addison County Jewish Congregation.

I invite you to drop me a note at ischiffe@middlebury.edu or
call me at 802-443-5762.
