What kind of Jewish classes are offered at Middlebury?

Middlebury offers a substantial range of courses relating to Judaism and the Jewish Tradition from antiquity to the present day, as well as Classical Hebrew (the Hebrew of the Bible, rabbinic literature, and the prayer book) and Modern Hebrew. Interested students can pursue a Jewish Studies concentration within the Religion Major; a Jewish Studies Minor, or a minor in Hebraic Studies through the Classics department; and a Middle East Studies major with a concentration in Modern Hebrew. Please see the Middlebury Course Catalogue for descriptions of these courses under the Religion Department, Classics Department, Modern Hebrew Department, and Jewish Studies minor listings, as well as an explanation of the Religion Major and Jewish Studies and Hebraic Studies minors.

Also, please feel free to email Robert Schine, who teaches many of our Jewish Studies courses, or Nathan Devir, who teaches Modern Hebrew.
