General Information Insurance for Laptops Participants bringing laptops should note that Gordon Research Conferences, Queen's College, Department of Chemistry and the University of Oxford can accept NO LIABILITY for loss or damage during the Conference. Participants are advised therefore to keep a close watch on their laptops at all times and ensure they are covered by insurance, eg from their home institution. Additional AccommodationFor those coming from far away to Queens, it is possible to arrive on Saturday rather than Sunday. A block of rooms have been made available for early arrivals at a cost of 32.25 British pounds for the room and Sunday morning breakfast. If you would like to come in on Saturday, please e-mail Chris Watters (watters@middlebury.edu) by 23 June. Your name will be sent on to Queens and your room will be ready when you arrive. You will pay Queens directly for the room cost. The College accepts cash in pounds sterling, credit and debit cards (but not American Express). After 23 June, you will have to make arrangements directly with Queens and provided they are have not filled up all early arrival rooms it may still be possible to have you to be accomodated. Because space at Queen's is limited, we are unable to accomodate guests of delegates. Car Parking Parking in Oxford is a problem so it is advisable to come by public transport and not to think of parking a car near to Queen's College or the Department of Chemistry. Currency Exchange Facilities are readily available in currency exchange shops as well as at at banks and through cash machines. Plugs and Electricity SuppliesUK plugs and supply (220V) are different from European and American plugs and supplies so it is important to bring appropriate adaptors. These can usually be purchased in airport shops and from Dixons in Oxford. Train Travel via LondonFor train travel via London or various other tourist sites see http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ Mini-grantsTo fertilize collaboration beyond the conference, the United States National Science Foundation is sponsoring the third mini-grant competition for participants in this conference. Four mini-grants of $5000 each will be awarded. Applications are due 8 July 2005. Please see the mini-grant RFP for details. Outcomes of the 2001 and 2003 mini-grants will be presented in a poster session.
