Mar 13: Panthers Edged in OT

Jak Knelman pops in a feed from Charlie Townsend to knot the
score at 2-2 at 12:59 of the 3rd period. Plattsburgh came out
strong in the OT frame to eliminate Middlebury from NCAA play.

To all Friends of Panther Hockey:

Four great seasons passed all too quickly, and I want to thank you on behalf of all parents for all that you have meant to our sons and daughters.  From the moment I walked into to Kenyon Arena for the first time, I was astonished by the support that the team received from the town of Middlebury and your unbelievably devoted organization.  It didn't take long to understand that to be part of Middlebury hockey is to be part of a real family.  I know how much your enthusiasm and support has meant to Charlie and his teammates, and I can't tell you what it felt like to travel to distant rinks and discover that there were more Friends of Panther Hockey in the stands than fans of the home team.

That kind of loyalty is unique; no team in New England is so blessed.

Finally, I thank you for the friendship that so many of you extended to all of the parents.  To walk into the Arena and be surrounded by a sea of friendly faces is something I will never forget.  Yours is a wonderful organization and a big part of what makes Middlebury hockey the greatest program in the country.

Thank you, and I will be back.  Go Blue!

Sincerely,

Mike Townsend
