I teach language and literature courses in the French
Department. I am interested in all contemporary literatures of
French expression in France and outside of France. Although my
specialty is North African literature, i.e. literatures from the
Maghreb
(Algeria, Marocco, and Tunisia), my research interest and
upper-level courses also focus on francophone literatures from
Sub-Saharan Africa, the French Caribbean, and Québec.
I have been teaching since 1985 and have been educated both in
Europe and the United States. I have been at Middlebury College since
1997 and I have taught or am scheduled to teach the following
