Senior Seminar: Practical Russian (RU 704)
Prof. Thomas Beyer
The goal of this course is for you to improve your practical language skills in Russian. At the end of the course you should be able to understand complex speech, including authentic Russian video, read general texts from newspapers and journals, speak in well constructed paragraphs, write page length letters, presentations, etc. and be able to translate general prose into clear, readable English.
All assignments must be completed before the beginning of each class. All written assignments must be double spaced, either word processed or error free in neat script on lined paper. At times some exercises or questions will be assigned specifically for writing. Those not assigned should be prepared for in class discussion.
The basic text for this class is Business Russian: A Cultural Approach.
