Course Requirements:

The aim of this course is to maintain and improve your Russian language skills and provide you with professional level abilities to read original contemporary Russian materials, to analyze and speak about contemporary topics in Russian and to translation from Russian to English. The focus and content of these skills will be contemporary topics taken from Russian print, audio and video media and your own life experiences. A special mini-course on Russian ecology should provide you with some new content expertise and provide a model of how you can construct your own specialized Russian course.

As a general guide Tuesdays will be devoted to a theme corresponding to a chapter in the text, Let's Talk about Life!. For each Tuesday you must read the entire chapter, do all drills in the text, prepare orally answers to all questions, listen to the interview and do the exercises. The major in class assignment will be the presentation of a well organized speech from three to seven minutes, along with evaluation of each other's work in Russian.

On Thursdays we will work on special topics, beginning with ecology and with special attention to using contemporary media resources and translating from Russian to English.
